Team Tui Expo

On Friday the 8th, we had a Team Tui expo! It started from after assembly and ended at the end of morning tea. The expo was basically just us showcasing our slides and create for the LCS we did. The LCS was to learn and create stuff about the cultural group we are in for the cultural festival (which is going to happen next week Friday). For the LCS, Liana and I were in the same cultural group (Zumba) so we partnered up. We created a headband and loom bands!

Cybersmart – Quality Blog Posts

Task Description: Today for cyber smart, the challenge was to identify the elements of a quality blog post. The elements of a quality blog post is, a unique and interesting title, adding a category and tags, including a digital learning object in your pose and information about your learning.

Then, for the task on the slide, it was to find one of your blog posts with all those elements and label them. The blog post I added was about my IXL measurement learning. I don’t really think the title was unique and interesting but, I don’t know how to make unique and interesting titles so I couldn’t fix it.

My top tip for creating a quality blog post is probably making a good and specific task description on your blog post.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

On Wednesday the 8th, it was the Manaiakalani film festival.

The Manaiakalani film festival is basically every school in Manaiakalani creates a film and then gathers at a theatre to watch the films. I liked the trip because I got to go on a bus twice. My favourite film that I watched while I was there was probably the Manhunt by Point England School. I liked it because they filmed at different locations, they edited it pretty well and I found it a little bit funny.

( For the film festival, Team Tui (The senior syndicate) made a movie titled “I CAN”. )

Learning About Pi

Task Description: Yesterday in the morning for maths, we learnt about pi!  First, we had to measure the circumference using some string, then we measured the diameter using a ruler. We divided the circumference by the diameter on our chrome books and the result is called pi. The value of pi is just over 3.

Probability Games

Task Description:

Yesterday for maths, we did it in the assembly hall! We were playing probability games, probability is how likely something will happen. We were split into three groups so that there would be rotations for the games. Everyone also got a paper to record their success and their failure for each game.

The first game for the group I was in was greedy pig. Greedy pig is rolling a die and you get points for what number you rolled. However, if you roll a one, you have to restart from 0 points again. I think it was the most difficult game for me, I had to restart 4 times and I only got 39 points at the end before the rotation ended. If you got 50 points you could get a lolly but I only had 39.

The next rotations were playing cards and bottle flip. For the playing cards I aimed for no picture cards, and my success was 25 and the failure was 15. For bottle flip, my success was 6 and my failure was 30.

Prefixes & Suffixes

Task Description: For writing, we learnt about prefixes and suffixes! A prefix is a word/part of a word that goes before a root word and it changes the root words meaning. For example: happy and unhappy. A suffix is a word/part of a word that goes after a root word and also changes the meaning. Like: do and doing.

Te Tūhura – Aku Tino Mea

Task Description: For this Cybersmart challenge, it was about learning to use the Explore tool to add images on google slides. First, you had to search Matariki on the explore tool and add an image of the star cluster. Then you search on the explore tool and add images of your favourite things on the next slide.
