Metaphor Activities

Task Descripton:

For writing, we had to make a copy of a doc with tasks about metaphors on it and then name it Metaphor Activites.

The first activity was to write a metaphor for each of the following describing words. The words were strong, angry, brave and cheerful. Activity 2 were Metaphor riddles, you had to guess the answer for the riddles (shown in the image above). It was pretty challenging!

Finding Perimeter of a Shape

Task Description:

For maths, our task was to go into groups of 3 and choose one from the measurement equipment pile.  I was in a group with Phyu sin and Stephanie. Then, we could have fun with the equipment for 5 min! After that, you had to make a shape and find it’s perimeter. Because the sides of our shape were curved, we had to use a flax and curve it over the shape and then measure how many centimetres the flax was. After we found the perimeter we had to convert it to millimetres, centimetres, and meters.

The perimeter of our shape was 84 cm. So, 84 cm, 840 mm and 0.84 m.

Figurative Language Writing Task 2

Task Description:

For writing, task 2 of figurative writing. We had to choose to write either a poem or story and include at least 5 figurative language features. This is my one paragraph story, I made it short because I didn’t have that much time. The language features I included are metaphor, idiom, hyperbole, simile, personification and onomatopoeia. I also highlighted where the language features were used.

Cybersmart – Blog Replies Tasks

Task Description:

For cyber smart, the task was about Blog replies. Task 1 was to first read the blog post, comment and reply. Then you labelled the parts of the reply: the greeting, the thank you, the response to the question, and the part of them asking a question back. For task 2, it was to first read a post and comment and then draft a reply to the comment as Alex.

Circle Geometry Maths

Task Description: For maths, we were learning how to use a compass!

First, you had to practice with the compass in your maths book and then draw and label the centre, the diameter, the radius and the sector. Once you were done with that, you got a paper and drew a circle with a flower in the middle using the compass. Then you made an even bigger flower like the one in the picture! You were able to colour it however you liked.

Doing The Right Thing In Google Meet

Task Description: For cybersmart, the task was about google meets! First, you had to move the callouts to the correct place/tool. Then you listed 3 things they were doing right on google meets. Picked which background was best and worst, and added a image of yourself doing the right thing (on google meets). I used my cat instead!!

New Years Eve Cybersmart part 2 task

Task Description: For the cybersmart part 2 task, (The second task after the “How do other countries celebrate New years?”) we had to take a picture of ourself and use remove.bg to remove the background. I used a picture of my cat instead!!!!1 Then, we put a firework background on google drawing. I tried to make it look as corny as possible so I hope I succeeded 👍!

Working Collaboratively In a Doc

Task Description: For cybersmart, the task was to work collaboratively on google docs with a partner. My partners were Phyu sin and CC! On the doc there were tasks to do like Tic Tac Toe, making a story and commenting after doing the task. For the story you had to type one word and make your partner or partners do the other word, basically like taking turns until the story was finished. After you finish the task you had to comment “gg” (good game) and your favourite part of the story.

Pentominoes

Task Description:

For maths, we learnt about pentominoes! First, we had to find & draw the 12 pentominoes in our maths books , it was really challenging. The rule was it had to be connected but not by the corners. After that, we got printed papers with pentominoes on them. We had to cut them out and do challenges. For the first challenge it was a 3×5 square with the pentominoes. The second challenge was a 4×5 square, and the third challenge was 5×5 square.  For the last one, I believe the 4th or 5th challenge was a 3×10 square?
